The Keys got smart on this album. Everybody was referring to them as White Stripes light. So the Keys left the blues sound for this album. This is more of a power pop sound. And they do it very, very well. This album won the Grammy for rock album of the year.
Danger Mouse produced it, and it seems he is gold. I usually don't like the echo effect on a lead vocal. However this one didn't bother me much. Then I found out it was a real echo. Vocals were recorded in a bathroom.
I'm not crazy about the weak sounding drums, but I can live with it since the songs are crafted so brilliantly. Very catchy. Makes you want to move, or tap your feet at the very least.
Lead guitarist Dan Auerbach is not Jack White on the guitar, but he can write a catchy tune with the best of them.
I give this album 4 stars out of 5
