Mick Jones recipe for success on this record is create a hook, and repeat it over, and over. The interesting thing is he created multiple hooks per song, and he finds a way to repeat them all. Sometimes simultaneously.
The intro is usually a nice hook repeated twice. Then he goes into a guitar hook that becomes the body of the song. Sometimes a keyboard hook is played over it.
All simple two chord hooks that he throws together in a masterful way.
Combine the catchy tunes with that big wonderful voice of Lou Grammy, and you have a winner.
This album has aged well for me. I still love to listen to it as much today as I did in 1978.
I give this album 4 stars out of 5
