#213 Aretha Franklin.....I never loved a man the way I love you.

Released 1967

Another great album recorded at Muscle Shoals recorded in quit possibly the greatest year of rock.

Aretha would be a huge challenge for the producer, and engineer. She can get almost to a whisper, and then explodes to a point where she is bigger than the horn section. Nobody has a voice that big. Nobody! Jerry Wexler , and crew did a great job capturing that voice without feedback, or distortion.

Aretha choose some great songs on this album. Her big hit Respect is on this one. At the moment I'm getting into the title track. She choose three Sam Cooke songs. All good choices.

I've always like to hear Are the just sit down to a piano, and belt out a song. Her phrasing is great. She does a give, and take thing with the piano rather than just sing over the chord.

This is an amazing album. It was my first listen. I highly recommend it.

I give this album 4.5 stars out of 5.
